About the Beneficiary, Friends of 40 Prado
The Friends of 40 Prado’s mission is to provide support funding for operation of 40 Prado, SLO’s center for the homeless, to help the neighbors in our community find a level of self-sufficiency appropriate to each individual.
The 40 Prado Homeless Services Center is a 365 days per year facility that helps individuals and families improve their health and stability and move them towards self-sufficiency. Services available to all participants include:
- overnight shelter
- meals
- showers
- laundry
- mail/phone services
- access to case management
- primary medical care
- animal kennels.
Specialized services include the SLO-Hub Project for individuals seeking assistance in dealing with mental health and substance use issues and the Recuperative Care Program that provides a safe place to recuperate and convalesce for individuals who would otherwise be discharged to the streets.
Additionally, 40 Prado serves as the Warming Center location for the City of San Luis Obispo during times of inclement weather.
